The role of Personal Injury Lawyers in Claiming for Damages in Markham

Personal injury is a broad term used to describe any injury (physical or psychological) that has happened as a result of an accident.  A personal injury lawyer has specialized knowledge in tort law, which refers to civil cases and trials that bring compensation for damages to individuals who unfairly suffered loss or injury due to the actions of another party.  For accident victims and their families, a personal injury attorney will assess your unique case, advise you of the best course(s) of action in making a successful claim, draft the necessary legal documents, and professionally represent you in settlement negotiations or in a trial if settlement cannot be reached to your satisfaction through negotiation.

The Personal Injury Lawyers of Ontario (ILO) group have collective experience and knowledge of the legal mechanisms surrounding personal injury cases and provide personal service through their offices in communities like Markham, throughout Ontario.   If you have been hurt in any type of accidents (including those listed below), you can either call us or fill out a confidential online form.  Our fully staffed firms will make every effort to respond promptly as time is an important factor that can affect your right to compensation.

Motor vehicle accidents resulting in injury or death are regrettably a common occurrence in Markham and the surrounding GTA.  Accidents can occur due to severe weather conditions or other circumstances that are largely outside of our control, but often they arise as a result of negligent actions by individuals. In September 2015, a Toronto male motorcyclist collided with a TTC streetcar, resulting in fatal injuries to the motorcyclist. In October 2014, an Oakville woman died when she lost control of her Honda CRV which subsequently rolled over after crashing into a Suzuki sedan on Highway 404. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries to the occupants of the Suzuki, however, in many cases, loss of control of a vehicle has a catastrophic effect when crashing into other vehicles and their occupants on our heavily travelled GTA roads.

It is not only adults who are prone to personal injury.  Children are even more susceptible to unforeseen harm and accordingly, they are in particular need of our protection. Parents and the extended community can do a great deal to keep our children safe, but there are limits to their outreach.   In 2015, Markham parents were shocked and disturbed to learn of a medical marijuana grow house across the street from an elementary school.  There were concerns about the health risks to children who were returning home smelling of marijuana.  Currently it is legal for grow-houses to be in operation in residential areas but residents wonder about the potential personal injury associated with the side effects that this grow house may be having on neighbourhood children.

If you have been injured in an accident and are in need of a Markham personal injury attorney, call the Injury Lawyers of Ontario (ILO) office.  In our initial consultation, we can determine whether you have a claim for damages and consult with you on your options for seeking compensation or your rightful insurance benefits.  We accommodate the unique needs of each of our clients.  Our goal is to make this difficult time of your life as stress-free as possible for you.
